Tamaqua schools dismissing early Friday

The Tamaqua Area School District will have a 2-hour early dismissal Friday.

District Superintendent Raymond J. Kinder said the time could change depending on what the forecast holds.

“That is of today,” he said during Tuesday’s school board meeting. “We will be checking weather conditions and seeing those type of things and it could change depending on what type of circumstances we see.”

The National Weather Service is calling for rain showers before 2 p.m., followed by a chance of rain and snow showers. Friday’s high of 49 degrees is expected around noon, but a quick freeze will drop temperatures to 7 degrees.

An Act 80 Day is scheduled for Jan. 2 for teachers’ safety training, he said.
