Stroudsburg man charged with attempted homicide after shooting

A Stroudsburg was charged after police say he fired a handgun Friday inside a Little Caesars Pizza in East Stroudsburg.

William Papon, 37, faces numerous charges, including attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault and terroristic threats, all felonies.

According to Stroud Area Regional Police, the incident started around 8:40 p.m., when they were called to the Little Caesars for shots fired.

Police were told by employees that Papon had called the business twice to complain about his order and that he was argumentative on the phone and asked for the business’ address.

Papon then went to the Little Caesars and got into an argument with the manager, police said.

The manager told police that Papon removed a handgun from his jacket, while continuing to argue about not receiving his order and approached the manager to gain access behind the counter.

The manager met Pabon between the employee and customer area and Pabon pointed the gun toward the manager’s lower body and fired one round.

It struck the manager’s shoe, causing damage to his shoe but missed his foot, police said.

Pabon continued to yell at the manager and told him he wanted to go outside and fight.

The manager refused and Pabon left the business through the front door and walked to the rear parking lot where his vehicle was parked and got in.

Officers arrived on scene and took Pabon into custody. Before being transported, Pabon was searched, and brass knuckles were found on him, police said. A 9 mm handgun was found inside Pabon’s vehicle, police said.

No physical injuries were reported.

Pabon is also charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, discharge of a firearm into occupied structure, firearms not to be carried without a license, possessing instruments of crime and prohibited offensive weapon.

Pabon was arraigned by District Justice Anzini Saturday. Pabon is incarcerated at the Monroe County Correctional Facility. Bail was denied.
