CCTI adopts budget, sends to local districts

The Joint Operating Committee of Carbon Career & Technical Institute approved the 2023-2024 proposed secondary budget.

The $9,096,315 spending plan, which was approved during Thursday night’s virtual meeting, will now be forwarded as presented to the boards of school directors in each of the participating school districts for final adoption.

“The 2023-2024 proposed CCTI budget marks the 10th consecutive year of a 0% overall increase to the participating member districts,” said Business Administrator Jeffry P. Deutsch. “Once approved, our central office will forward paperwork to each school district along with an electronic copy of budget, with a printed version to be sent later.”

Accomplishments

Brent Borzak, administrative director, praised the school for its many works around the community.

“I want to recognize the staff and student body for all charitable things I’ve seen them do, especially around the holidays, Borzak said. “We held Thanksgiving food drive, which saw food delivered students and their families that were in need. Toys for Tots baskets were placed in school, with so many things brought in, and given to the U.S. Marine Corps.

“Students and staff members came together to do a fundraiser for the fire victims in Jim Thorpe. It’s heartfelt, especially this time of year, during this time of giving during this holiday season.”
