Schuylkill Transportation System prepares for next year

Schuylkill Transportation System will keep rolling along.

County commissioners on Wednesday approved a number of requests from the county Transportation Authority to ensure funding for purchases and projects.

They included:

• Approval to submit the county’s fiscal year 2022-2023 Consolidated Capital Grant Application - board resolution to file applications and to certify the local match for transit related capital improvement projects.

The projects consist of vehicle purchases and Union Station equipment replacement.

There are eight vehicles costing a total of $2,137,028 and equipment for Union Station for $8,000.

The various sources of funds that will be requested and used for these projects consist of about $1,623,090 in federal dollars, $457,794 in state funds, and a local match commitment of $64,144.

The filing of this grant application with the state Department of Transportation will require a local match from the county of $64,144 for 2022-23.
