CCTI sets committee appointments

The Joint Operating Committee of the Carbon Career & Technical Institute approved several appointments for various committee positions.

The committee met virtually on Dec. 15 due to the winter storm.

CCTI received a Letter of Appointment for Thomas J. Connors Jr. to serve as a member of the Joint Operating Committee, representing Weatherly Area School District, for a 3-year term, through December 2025.

Committee member Nathan Fuller was nominated and elected as a temporary chairman of the Joint Operating Committee in order to hold the nomination and election of the official chairman. Gerald Strubinger was nominated and re-elected.

Strubinger then led the nomination for vice chairman. He nominated Renee DeMelfi, Panther Valley School District, who was re-elected to the position.

The committee received Letters of Appointment for the following positions:

Alternate representatives to the committee, each a 1-year term, through December 2023.

• Jim Thorpe Area School District - TBD

• Lehighton Area School District - Jeremy Glaush (currently in this position)

• Palmerton Area School District - Stacey Connell (currently in this position)

• Panther Valley School District - Steven Foster (currently in this position)

• Weatherly Area School District - Chrissie Houser (currently in this position)

5-year terms through December 2027:

• Heather Neff, Lehighton Area School District

• Marco D’Ancona from the Panther Valley School District.

Meetings

The committee also voted on the monthly meeting schedule for 2023. The regular meeting will continue to be held the third Thursday of each month, with an executive session at 5 p.m., and the public meeting at 6 p.m., with two exceptions: The February meeting will be on Feb. 23; and the Dec. 21 meeting will be held at 7 p.m.
