Two people were injured in a one-vehicle crash at 12:11 p.m. Dec. 11 on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
It happened at mile marker 96.3 in Kidder Township, Carbon County.
State police at the Pocono barracks said the driver Cheri L. Yager, 58, of Avoca, was hurt but refused treatment from the Lehighton Ambulance Association. A passenger, Robert A. Yager, 59, also of Avoca, was injured and transported by the ambulance to the Geisinger-Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.
Police said the extent of the injuries of both victims are unknown. Two other passengers in the car were not hurt.
Police said the crash happened when Cheri Yager was driving a 2013 Mercedez Benz ML350 northbound and lost control of the vehicle on the slippery roadway because of “balding tires.” The car hit a concrete barrier, bounded off the barrier and traveled across both lanes, hitting a guide rail before coming to rest.
Police said she was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
