Schuylkill County Commissioners

Schuylkill County commissioners took the following human services actions at a public meeting Wednesday:

• Designated Schuylkill Community Action to apply, on behalf of the county, to the Department Of Community and Economic Development for the COVID-19 American Rescue Plan Act Whole-Home Repairs Program. The program will provide funding for countywide agencies to address habitability and safety concerns, provide measures to improve energy or water efficiency, and make units accessible for people with disabilities. The application will be for $1,629,443.

• Approved an amendment to the 2020 Emergency Solutions Grant - CARES Act, or ESG-CV, program budget to revise it.

The funds must be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19 among people and families who are homeless or receiving homeless assistance, and to support additional homeless assistance and homelessness prevention activities to mitigate the impacts created by pandemic.

The program budget changes are emergency shelter $219,857.17 (an increase of $77,782.17) l Rapid Rehousing $183,507 (a decrease of $50,000); and homelessness prevention $14,767.83 (a decrease of $27,782.17).

• Approved an amendment to the cooperation agreement with Schuylkill Community Action to allow $50,000 in ESG-CV funds to be allocated to Servants To All. This will change their budget from $249,271.50 to $199,271.50.

• Approved an amendment to the cooperation agreement with Servants To All to allow $50,000 in ESG-CV funds to be allocated from Schuylkill Community Action. This will change their budget from $135,046.50 to $185,046.50.

• Approved an amendment to the cooperation agreement with Catholic Charities to allow $29,484.09 in ESG-CV funds to be allocated to Schuylkill Hope Center (previously call Schuylkill Women In Crisis (SWIC). This will change their budget from $45,138 to $15,653.91.

• Approved an amendment to the cooperation agreement with Schuylkill Hope Center to allow $29,484.09 in ESG-CV funds to be allocated from Catholic Charities. This will change their budget from $47,700 to $77,184.09.
