Much like its contemporaries, Mahoning Valley Ambulance Association could use financial support.
Robert Miller, treasurer of the organization, appeared at Wednesday’s Mahoning Township Board of Supervisors meeting in search of suggestions.
“We just need money; we were asking for some of their ideas,” Miller said after the meeting. “With prices the way they are; it’s like unreal.”
Miller cited the high costs of fuel, electric, and insurance among the driving factors, and noted that all the ambulance corps are affected.
“The law says the supervisors have to provide fire protection and police protection; nothing is said about EMS,” he said. “It’s really a screwed up situation, and the state and the federal government, they make it worse.”
Miller said he attended the meeting to ask for the board’s ideas.
“We have the people that will run,” he said. “You don’t get volunteers anymore like you did 20 years ago.
