2-day storm impacts travel

A two-day, dual-phase winter storm brought a mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain throughout the area. The frozen elements created treacherous conditions, closing schools and creating challenging commutes. Shown is Route 309 in Hometown at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. At the same time, a jackknifed tractor-trailer blocked both northbound lanes of I-81, stranding motorists during freezing temperatures. State and municipal road crews were kept busy all night.
