A 22-year-old woman from Slatington was scammed out of a large amount of money. State police at Bethlehem said the incident was reported on Dec. 2 at 2:34 p.m.

Troopers said the woman sought employment opportunities and inadvertently contacted an illegitimate company. The victim was instructed to purchase about $3,900 in eBay and Apple gift cards and email the serial numbers to them.

Troopers said the woman bought $2,900 in eBay cards and $1,000 in Apple cards. The investigation is continuing.
