Legion collects toys for Christmas

On Saturday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at 137 Pleasant Lane in Brodheadsville looked like Santa’s had come to town.

The American Legion Riders Post 927 in Gilbert was hosting a drop off for the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots drive.

There was plenty of hot chocolate and cookies as well as candy canes to thank the volunteers and people dropping off unwrapped toys for children.

Gunnery Sergeant Eric Scott, a veteran Marine and member of the American Legion Riders Post 927, was on hand to thank people dropping off toy donations.

“American Legion posts assist Marines and volunteers with Toys for Tots collection drives all across the country during the holiday season,” he said.

According to Scott, it is especially needed since the cost of toys has increased.
