The Summit Hill Post Office opened its doors today for business in its new building at Market and Hazard streets. The move was completed yesterday from the old post office on Ludlow Street.

Postmaster Norman Serena said two trucks, an open body type and a panel truck, each made six trips to complete the two-block move, He said the “tremendous cooperation” of postal employees made the move possible in a short length of time.

Ground was broken for the new building in May, 1962, and it was approved for occupancy last week by postal inspectors.

Edward Bebeneck of Elysburg was the general contractor.
