Nesquehoning keeps previous snow parking ordinance

Nesquehoning has changed its mind on snow removal during the winter months.

Earlier this week, council chose to backtrack on its original stance for this winter’s snow removal.

The borough will revert to last year’s snow parking ordinance and will enforce it during snowstorms.

That means that during a snowstorm of three inches or more forecast, no parking will be permitted during the storm and 48 hours or until snow is removed on the north side of Railroad Street except for the eastern 500 and 600 blocks and the north side of Center Street except for the first block of west. It will also include the north side of Catawissa, Coal and Yard streets; as well as the south side of Mill, Rhume and Willow streets; Columbus, Diaz and Garibaldi avenues; and the east side of Angelini Avenue.

Once snow is removed from the no-parking side of the street, vehicles may return to parking on that side to allow for the other side of the street to be plowed.

A $50 fine will be imposed for vehicles that aren’t moved according to the snow postings.

Snow parking signs have been posted throughout the borough for direction on enforcement.
