A Reading man will serve up to 38 years in state prison for sexually assaulting two children over several years.

Jonathan Luis Garcia, 24, of Fleetwood, also must register as a Tier III sex offender for life.

Garcia sexually abused the girls between Feb. 1, 2013, and Dec. 31, 2019, in Cumbola and Middleport, and in Collegeville, Montgomery County, according to police.

State Trooper Andrew Letcavage of the Frackville barracks charged Garcia with rape of a child; three counts each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and aggravated indecent assault; two counts of indecent assault of a child under 13; three counts of indecent exposure; and two counts of indecent assault.

A jury in September found Garcia guilty of two counts each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and aggravated indecent assault; indecent assault; two counts of indecent exposure, and indecent assault.

It also found him not guilty of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, two counts of indecent assault, and indecent exposure.

On Wednesday, President Judge Jacqueline L. Russell sentenced Garcia.

On the charge of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, she sentenced him to 5 to 10 years in state prison, with credit for the 151 days he’d already served, and to submit a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee.

On the second count of that crime, Russell sentenced Garcia to an additional 10 to 20 years.

On the charge of aggravated indecent assault of a child less than 13 years old, she sentenced him to an additional 1 to 2 years; on the second count of that crime, Russell sentenced Garcia to 2 to 4 additional years.

On the charge of indecent assault of a child under 13, she sentenced him to 5 years on probation after he is released from prison.

On the second count of that crime, she sentenced him to one to two years in state prison.

On two charges of indecent exposure, Russell sentenced Garcia to 1 year of probation on each charge, to be served at the same time as the probation sentenced imposed for indecent assault.
