Pleasant Valley SB retains Kresge as president

The Pleasant Valley School Board held its annual reorganization meeting Thursday night just before its regular meeting.

Susan Kresge was retained as president of the school board. Kresge was the only nomination and the directors voted unanimously to reappoint her to the position.

Michael Galler was reappointed unanimously to the position of vice president. Directors Diane Serfass and Melanie Zipp nominated him.

As for the other appointments, Serfass volunteered to be the school board’s liaison to the Monroe Career and Technical Institute. All other directors not already assigned to a committee will serve as alternates to MCTI.

Zipp will continue as the liaison to the Pennsylvania School Board Association. Serfass and Galler agreed to be the PSBA voting delegates.

Director Todd Kresge, who served as the liaison to MCTI this year, congratulated the PV students who are outstanding students for the first quarter at MCTI. They include: Adelynne Doub, ninth-grade, civics and horticulture; Adam Van Why, ninth-grade, math; Katelynn Martini, ninth-grade, math and science; Morgan Hunter, ninth-grade, science and diesel, Kaitlyn Strohl, automotive collision and repair; Justin Unger, automotive technology; Aiden Leonard, diesel technology; Happy Patel, health professions; Allison Borger, horticulture; Robert Meckes, outdoor power equipment technology.

“Keep up the good work,” Todd Kresge said.

From the Pleasant Valley Middle School, Principal Jason Van Voorhis and Assistant Principal Josephine Fields introduced two students to the school board for a presentation of student highlights.

“The middle school administrative team is really been purposeful in making sure we’re giving voice to the students,” Van Voorhis.

Sam Lowell and Shelby O’Neill are representatives of the Yearbook Club. They are also members of Student Government and served as student directors of the Drama Club’s recent production of Spaced Out. The play was written and produced by the students. Both girls prepared the slideshow for the school board that provided student highlights.

Lowell and O’Neill took turns reading parts of this statement. “We believe in Pleasant Valley Middle School there is a place for everyone and this slideshow is put together to show you that,” they said.
