Senior Center

The menu at the Panther Valley Senior Center for the week of Dec. 5-9 is as follows:

Monday: BBQ Turkey, Sweet Potatoes, Green Beans, Cornbread, Chocolate Pudding or Mediterranean Chicken Salad

Tuesday: Beef Pot Pie, Mashed Potatoes, Peas & Onions, Grapes or Deli Sandwich

Wednesday: Sausage and Eggs, Potatoes, Peppers and Onions, Orange or Turkey Cobb Salad

Thursday: Squash Soup, Sloppy Joe, Potato Wedges, Jello or Turkey Pita

Friday: Sweet and Sour Pork, Lo Mein Noodles, Asian Vegetables, Orange or Antipasto Salad

The Panther Valley Senior Center has announced upcoming events for until Dec. 9.

Now You Have It, Now You Don’t on Dec. 5 at 11 a.m.; Bingo on Dec. 6 at 10:45 a.m.; Drumming Exercise on Dec. 7 at 11 a.m.; Sunshine Club Meeting at 10 a.m. on Dec. 8 followed by Po-Keeno at 11 a.m.; Skeeball Tournament on Dec. 9 at 11 a.m.

New members always welcome.

Hometown Hero Banners

The Nesquehoning Veterans Banner program is now open for 2023.

If you would like to purchase a banner, applications are available at the VFW Post Home at 300 E. Center St.

Also if you purchased a banner to be displayed in 2020, 2021 or 2022, renewal applications were mailed to the sponsor of the banner and the retired banner may be picked up at the post home.

The deadline to purchase a new banner or renewal is Jan. 13, 2023.

Historical Society

The Summit Hill Historical Society will be open Dec. 10, from 10 a.m.-noon. Highlighted displays will be old maps and Summit Hill High School yearbooks.

The Charles Cunningham coal sculptures will still be on display. This is open to the general public.

The society will also hold an open house/Christmas Party to celebrate its 25th anniversary on Dec. 14. Free Range Folk will present a concert at 7 p.m.

The museum will open at 6 p.m. for browsing and after the concert for refreshments. This is a free venue. Snow date is Dec. 15.

The Summit Hill Historical Society is located at 1 W. Hazard St.
