Driver flees scene of Rush crash

State police at the Frackville barracks said the driver a vehicle that overturned on Fairview Street in Rush Township in a crash that happened at 10:41 p.m. Oct. 29 fled the scene.

Police said Sarah L. Welles, 27, of Shenandoah, was driving the 2001 Jeep Cherokee eastbound and was traveling too fast for conditions when it came in contact with a railroad crossing. Police said she lost control of the Jeep, which traveled off the right shoulder of the road and crashed into an embankment, overturning and coming to rest in the eastbound lane.

Neither she nor Joseph C. Shustack, 33, also of Shenandoah, a passenger, were injured, police said.

The Jeep sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.
