Wind gusts could reach near 45 mph

Rain and high winds are in the forecast today, possibly causing power outages.

Our area is expected to see a strong cold front coming through, with the main concern breezy conditions generated by the winds, according to Cameron Wunderlin, meteorologist, National Weather Service Forecast Office Philadelphia/Mount Holly.

“It’s mostly going to be the winds,” Wunderlin said. “We could be looking at near 45 mph gusts.”

Wunderlin said people should tie down any objects that could be blown away, such as garbage cans and light tables.

He said the gusts were expected to begin around noon, with the peak gusts arriving between 4-5 p.m.

Wunderlin said the gusts will continue to be 35-40 mph overnight up until 6 or 7 a.m. Thursday.

Sustained wise, he said we should see 20-25 mph.
