A Slatington woman died in a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday at 12:07 p.m. on Route 873 in Washington Township, Lehigh County.

Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio identified the deceased as Rebecca Martinez, 71, the driver of one of the vehicles.

State police at the Bethlehem barracks are investigating the crash that happened in the 7100 block of Route 873.

The coroner said Martinez experienced a medical event while driving, causing her to go unresponsive and cause the collision. She was pronounced dead at 12:50 at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. The coroner ruled the death due to natural causes.

State police have not yet released the details of the crash, nor the name of the other driver.

According to state police spokesperson Trooper Nathan Branosky, traffic was detoured at Shady Nook and Hill roads for about two hours.

Regular traffic resumed about 3 p.m.
