MMI students participate in business workshop

Several seniors in the MMI Future Business Leaders of America Club participated in this year’s State Leadership Workshop at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in the Pocono Mountains.

Kate Malay, Anden Karlick, Emely Lopez-Rodriquez, Ty McDermott, Jeffrey DeAngelo, Jessica Zheng, John Schwear, and Brenna Eckhart were the senior students who participated.

This year’s theme was “Imagine, Dream, Do!” and students participated in many interactive and engaging workshops such as “Entrepreneurial Edge,” “Trace the Trade,” and “Soft Skills in the 21st Century.”

Students also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the resort. Other activities included a charity walk, state project T-shirt sale, and a silent basket auction to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

MMI Future Business Leaders of America Club adviser Katherine Zucco said, “I am extremely proud of our students and how they represented MMI at the PA FBLA State Leadership Workshop.”

Sophomore Hayden Schwabe also attended in his role as the PA FBLA state vice-president at large. Schwabe worked with the other state officers and advisers of the PA FBLA State Executive Committee to plan the State Leadership Workshop and delivered speeches at both the opening and closing business sessions. He also led a workshop focused on FBLA Middle Level, which is a program designed to increase membership and involvement in FBLA for students in middle school.
