Summit Hill holds line on taxes

A tentative budget was approved by Summit Hill Borough Council that keeps taxes the same as they’ve been the past three years.

During a special meeting Monday, the council gave approval to a budget that keeps the tax rate at 18.5 mills.

Final adoption of the budget is anticipated at council’s December meeting - 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13 in the borough hall.

The budget is balanced at $1,568,987.

It is based on 16.5 mills for general purposes, 1.5 mills for street lighting and a half mill for fire allocation.

In another matter, council granted permission for St. Paul Lutheran Church to have a Christmas Eve service at 9 p.m. on Dec. 24 in Ludlow Park. The request was made by Pastor Marjorie Keiter.

Council member David Wargo said this is about the fourth year the church is having the outdoor Christmas Eve service.
