The Schuylkill County United Way exceeded its 2013 goal by more than $62,000, raising $1,065,000, as was reported by campaign officials at a breakfast program held at the Penn State Schuylkill Campus, Schuylkill Haven.

The funds topped last year’s campaign totals, making the “United To Make A Difference” campaign the highest grossing Schuylkill United Way campaign to date.

Jeff Bowe, Tamaqua Campaign chairperson, reported the local campaign exceeded its goal by 155 percent, raising $158,000.

“It is important to focus on how fortunate we are to live and work in a strong community that is willing to provide help to those who need it the most,” Bowe said.
