Lansford Santa parade, tree lighting Saturday

Lansford Alive and the American Fire Co. #1 of Lansford are preparing for the annual Santa parade and tree lighting in Kennedy Park on Saturday. The event begins with a parade through town, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The parade will start at the #9 Mine Museum, head east on West Ridge Street, and will travel to the 800 Block of East Ridge Street. The parade will then do a lap through the Lansford Townhouses. From the townhouses, the parade will head to Pardee Street, turn onto the 600 Block of East Bertsch Street, and proceed west to Cortright Street. The parade will turn left on Cortright Street and will then turn on to the 300 Block of West Abbott and will travel east to 600 Block of East Abbott Street.

The fire company will then bring Santa down to Kennedy Park in time for the tree lighting ceremony to greet all of the children. Santa and his elves will be distributing candy throughout the parade route.

The tree lighting at Kennedy Park will begin around 5 p.m., with Mayor Hugh Vrablic as Master of Ceremonies. The mayor will greet everyone and introduce the Panther Carolers, who will sing some Christmas favorites.

Entertainment will then be provided by Angela Nardini of Lansford, singing contemporary favorites. Santa, Mrs. Claus, and his elves will then arrive and greet the children.

Refreshments will be available at the event. For more information, go the Lansford Alive or American Fire Co. #1 Facebook pages.
