• The Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony will be held by the Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce from 5 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 2 at Memorial Park in Slatington.
• Nesquehoning Christmas Tree Lighting, 6 p.m. on Dec. 2 at the tree along West Catawissa Street across from Turkey Hill. Everyone is invited to attend. Following the lighting, Meed’s church will hold caroling and refreshments.
• Annual tree lighting and visit with Santa, Dec. 3 in Ross Township. Santa will arrive on a Blue Ridge Hook and Ladder firetruck at 4 p.m. After the tree lighting, Santa will visit with guests inside the municipal building. Hot cocoa will be served.
• Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club Breakfast with Santa, Dec. 3 with seatings at 8:30 or 10:30 a.m. at the Lehighton Boys & Girls Band Hall at 197 N. Sixth St., Lehighton. Seating is limited.

• Christmas on the Hill, 4-8 p.m., Dec. 4, Ludlow Park, Summit Hill. Christmas caroling, complimentary cookies and hot chocolate will at 5:30 p.m., with Santa’s arrival about 6 p.m.
• The Annual Tamaqua Spirit of Christmas Festival will get underway Dec. 1 with a Mistletoe Reception at the Tamaqua Community Arts Center; Dec. 2, an Elf Workshop will be held at Lehigh Carbon Community College on High Street in the borough. College students will oversee activities for children between 4 and 5 p.m.; Dec. 2, Santa Parade at 6 p.m. followed by the lighting of Depot Square Park at the Five Points intersection; Dec. 3, a Breakfast with Santa, 9 a.m. at the Perla Enterprises Building (former Salvation Army), 570-239-6436; Dec. 3, with the Tamaqua Public Library hosting events from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.;- Noon to 3 p.m. Dec. 3, Stokes Ministry will have children’s crafts and games at First United Methodist Church on West Broad Street, Dec. 3, “Open Air Old Fashion Christmas Market” at Tink’s Antiques on South Railroad Street from 5 to 8 p.m.; Dec. 3 and 4, including train rides with Santa on the Reading & Northern Railroad. Excursions will be held each day at 10:30 a.m., 1 and 3:30 p.m., tickets, 610-562-2102 or in person (cash only) at Tink’s Antiques; Dec. 3 and 4, there will be an Artisan Market and Craft Fair at the Tamaqua Community Arts Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Tamaqua Historical Society Museum on West Broad Street will hold an Open House Dec. 3 and 4 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
The weekend comes to a close with the Tree Lighting at Depot Square Park on Dec. 4 at 6 p.m.

• The Carbon Model Railroad Society will hold its Holiday Open House at 529 Ore Street in Bowmanstown on Thursdays, Dec. 1 and 8 and on Jan. 5 from 7-9 p.m. It will also be open on Saturdays and Sundays, Nov. 26-27, Dec. 3-4, Dec. 10-11 and Jan. 7-8 from 1-4 p.m. Admission is free; donations are welcome, 610-826-6636.
