State police at Fern Ridge - crashes

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 2:02 a.m. on Wednesday along Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Ronald W. Haney Jr., 64, of Scotrun, was driving a 2019 Dodge Ram pickup truck eastbound when he fell asleep. The truck went onto the left berm and struck a tree head-on.

Haney was not injured but the truck was towed.

• A one-vehicle crash occurred at 5:52 p.m. on Nov. 8 along South Old Stage Road in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Jennifer M. Lash, 47, of Albrightsville, was driving a 2019 Ford Explorer when a deer entered the road in front of her. She was unable to avoid the animal and struck it with the front end.

Lash was not injured but the vehicle was towed.

• Another crash involving a deer was reported on Nov. 6 at 6:53 p.m. along Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Thomas A. Helmer, 31, of Lehighton, was driving a 2017 Subaru Forester northbound when he encountered a deer on the road. He was unable to avoid hitting it.

Helmer was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed.

• Another deer involved crash was reported at 9:12 p.m. on Nov. 4 along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township. Troopers said Molly R. Palovcak, 20, of Medford, New Jersey, was driving a 2011 Honda Civic northbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. She was unable to avoid hitting the animal.

Palovcak was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:14 p.m. on Oct. 21 along East Old Stage Road in Penn Forest Township. Kenneth B. Botke, 29, of Albrightsville, was driving a 2008 Ford Explorer eastbound when the vehicle traveled off the road and struck a utility pole.

Botke was not injured but the vehicle was towed. He was cited for careless driving.
