Schuylkill County - crashes

State police at Frackville reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers in Schuylkill County.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 9:32 p.m. on Sunday along Route 309 (Claremont Avenue) in Rush Township. Troopers said Andy K. Sweigart, 19, of Leesport, Berks County, was driving a 2016 Honda Civic southbound in the left lane when a deer entered the road in front of him. The front of the Honda struck the deer. After impact the Honda traveled across the road into the oncoming lanes where it was struck in the right lane by a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Joshua M. Kraintz, 42, of Dickson City, Lackawanna County.

No one was injured. Hometown Fire Company volunteers assisted at the scene.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:21 a.m. on Nov. 10 along Ringtown Boulevard in Union Township. Troopers said Matthew T. Teter, 19, Ringtown, was driving a 2008 Subaru Impreza southbound and rounding a left curve when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree along the west berm.

Teter sustained a suspected serious injury and was taken to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. The vehicle sustained heavy damages and had to be towed. The investigation is continuing.

• A three-vehicle crash was reported at 2:50 p.m. on Nov. 5 along Route 209 at the intersection with James Street, in Blythe Township.

Troopers said Keith T. Brobst, 44, of Pottsville, driving a 2018 Jeep Latitude, was eastbound and entered the westbound lane and onto the berm where it struck a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze which was parked along the north shoulder. As a result the Cruze struck a parked 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, also along the north shoulder.

The Latitude continued on and struck a tree. Brobst was not injured. He was cited for the crash.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 12:05 p.m. on Nov. 8 along Route 309 in Rush Township, at the intersection with Fairview Street. Troopers said Betty K. Maurer, 93, of McAdoo, was driving a 2004 Subaru Legacy northbound while Bryan R. Hess, 42, of Shillington, Berks County, was driving a 2018 Ford Focus southbound. Maurer made a left turn onto Fairview Street in front of Hess. The front end of the Ford struck the passenger side of the Subaru.

Hess was evaluated at the scene by McAdoo ambulance personnel and not transported. His passenger, Kyle A. Hess, 20, of West Lawn, Berks County, Maurer and her passenger, Betty M. Markle, 84, of Hazleton, were all not injured. The Subaru had to be towed.

Maurer was cited for vehicle turning left.
