Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met on Oct. 25 with 42 members in attendance. The group enjoyed a recent trip to Shady Maple.

Members Pat Frederick, Doris Brobst, Lucille Smarr and Shirley Kaiser were given a warm welcome back by the other members.

The Christmas party will be held on Dec. 13 at White Church.

The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at Christ Church, Barnesville at 1 p.m. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

Preceptor Alpha Upsilon

The Preceptor Alpha Upsilon chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met at the Normal Square Inn for two rituals. Marie Umbriac was honored with the Golden Circle for 50 years of membership in sorority. Helen Walters progressed to the Torchbearer Degree of Beta Sigma Phi. They were both presented with a yellow rose and pin to honor their accomplishments.

The chapter has also participated in the Make-a-Difference Day project. Members donated snacks and a variety of personal items to the fifth floor nursing home at Luke’s in Coaldale. The items will be used for bingo prizes for the residents. Monetary donations were also made to Jenna’s Walk and to a former member who was impacted by Hurricane Ian.

Plans are currently being made for a Christmas Party in December. Our next meeting is Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. at the home of Donna Sterling.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Nov. 3 with 24 members in attendance. President Mary Bittle opened the meeting with the reading “Seek For True Wisdom.”

November birthdays are being celebrated by John Fredericks, Doris Brobst, Jean Machamer, and Joan Camerini. Prayers were requested for Jim Sloboda who is in the hospital. Bag lunches will be January through March.

The group meets every Thursday at the Coaldale Complex at 1 p.m. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Calvary Lewistown

Terry Gerber will direct the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday at Calvary Evangelical Church, Lewistown Valley. Special guest speaker Rev. Keith McCarthy of Minersville will offer the morning message. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. There is no evening service this week. Prayer meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. Harvest Home food items will be collected from now until Nov. 27 at the morning worship service.

Garden Club

The Lewistown Valley Garden Club will hold it’s next monthly meeting on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Zion Church Social Hall, Lewistown Valley. The program will be presented by Porcupine Pat. The arrangement to be judged is “Gingerbread Man” consisting of dried flowers with gingerbread cookie cutter incorporated. Specimen, blooming shrub and/or branch with berries.

Please note the earlier date than usual due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tamaqua is taking orders for pumpkin rolls. Orders are due by Nov. 13.

The Rev. Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in American Primitive Methodist Church.
