November 7, 1947 - Johnny Metrick scores three touchdowns and Tamaqua’s defense pitches a shutout against Blythe Township as the Blue Raiders close their season with a 26-0 victory. Metrick opens the scoring in the second quarter when he completes a 59-yard drive with a 16-yard scoring run. Tamaqua, coached by Ken Millen, doubles the lead in the third frame on a 67-yard TD run by Metrick. The Blue Raider running back completes his hat trick in the fourth quarter, reaching the end zone on a 4-yard run. Ed Titus adds the final tally from five yards out. The Raider defense, meanwhile, doesn’t allow a first down and gives up just 51 yards.
