State police at Fern Ridge are investigating a stabbing which occurred Saturday night at the Plateau motel along Route 940 in Kidder Township.

Around 8:30 p.m. a man knocked on the door of an adjoining room informing them he had just stabbed a woman in his room. Authorities found a woman with numerous wounds on her body and the back of her neck. The victim was treated at the scene by members of the Lake Harmony ambulance and Lehighton paramedics before being transported to a nearby trauma center.

LifeFlight 6 was originally dispatched to the scene but was then aborted.

State police were assisted at the scene by Kidder Township police and Hickory Run State Park rangers.

State police criminal investigators were back at the scene Sunday interviewing neighbors.
