Man faces charges after traffic stop

A Saylorsburg man faces multiple charges, including a firearms violation, following a traffic stop earlier this month in Monroe County.

Cuan Grant, 27, was stopped by state police at Stroudsburg at 2:46 a.m. Oct. 11 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township after troopers said he failed to use a turn signal, was traveling at a high rate of speed and swerving in his lane.

During the stop, troopers said they smelled a strong odor of alcohol on Grant’s breath.

They handcuffed Grant, who then began screaming and tried to resist arrest.

As the officers were removing any valuables from the car before it was towed, they found a loaded handgun in the car.

Among the charges Grant faces are: Carrying a firearm without a license, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, reckless driving, DUI and vandalism.

He is in the Monroe County Prison in lieu of $35,000 straight bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Dec. 2 before District Judge Collen Mancuso of Brodheadsville.
