After an extended run gracing the streets above Tamaqua, the “Hometown Heroes” banners will be coming down.
The banners have been up for three years, and will be removed as borough workers begin hanging holiday lights, said Aimee Dotson, office and outreach administrator for the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce.
“The program was set to run for two years. We decided to leave the banners up an extra year because they were holding up really well,” she said. “But before the winter elements take a toll on them for a third year, we will be removing them and returning them to the family and friends who sponsored them.”
The Chamber will roll out another Hometown Heroes program for 2023, she said.
Dotson said that once all banners are removed and sorted, the Chamber will announce days and times when they can be picked up by sponsors.
The Chamber will make the announcement through Facebook and local newspapers.
While this set of banners will not be rehung, the Chamber will continue the program next year.
“New banners may be purchased then and those will remain hung for two years,” Dotson said.
Anyone who would like to be placed on a list to be notified of the new program should fill out a form at https://forms.gle/reTc9hQ9JNGFXEKZ7.
A limited number of banners will be available on a first come, first served basis. Completing the form does not guarantee a banner but assures notification of the new program.
