Palmerton Borough Council
Palmerton Borough Council on a 6-0 vote took the following action on Thursday:
• Approved the St. Luke’s Hospital stormwater management plan and agreement at the former Palmerton Hospital. After the hospital demolition, they are required to have set plans in place to control stormwater.
• Approved updated body camera and dash camera policies. Police Chief Tim Kromer found some areas that weren’t spelled out sufficiently, and this would correct those items.
• Announced they are getting specs prepared for repairs to the garage at the borough fire station property. The borough is the owner of a shared garage that is in need of repair; most significantly, the roof needs replacement. There are other doors and windows that need attention as well.
• Agreed to advertise for zoning/code position. Duane Dellecker will remain as Uniform Construction Code Administrator.
• Appointed Nicole Jahelka as deputy tax collector.
• Agreed to hire John Wilk and Larry Wallace as leaf collection employees for $15 an hour.
• Awarded Municibid items as follows: 2010 Ford Crown Victoria, $3,600; 2008 Ford Explorer, $3,100; and three light bars at $51 each.
• Approved a request from the Palmerton American Legion to host the Carbon County Veterans Day Parade from 2-4 p.m. Nov. 6, with a rain date of Nov. 13.
• Approved a request from Lehighton Borough for fire police assistance for the Snowflake 5K and 1 Mile Run/Walk at 9 a.m. Dec. 10.
• Announced that council will meet at 7 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of the month in November and December.
