The Lutheran Church of St. John in the Heights in Jim Thorpe will have a Polka Mass at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 19.

The Heidelberg Brass Band will perform.

The Polka Mass with the Heidelberg Brass Band made its debut in May 2015 in celebration of the 25th ordination anniversary of Pastor Glenn Beard, Jr., manager of the band.

The band, formed in 1954 included Beard’s father, Glenn Sr., and two uncles, Jim and Bob. Glenn Beard Sr. has been the band’s drummer for 68 years.

Since its debut, the band has led more than 50 worship services, including a Polka Mass wedding liturgy and a Polka Mass Memorial service.

Everyone is invited.

A dinner will be held in the church’s fellowship hall after the service. Seating is limited and reservations are required. There is a fee. Call 570-325-4255 by Wednesday, Nov. 16, or sign up at the church.
