Trinity Happenings

Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 South 3rd St., Lehighton, starts at 9:30 a.m. . Communion is served by continuous line with wafer placed in your open hand, and wine or grape juice in a small cup. Gluten free wafers are available to those with allergy issues. Included in this time is Service of Healing and Blessing of Prayer Shawls. Masks are no longer required, however, if you are not fully vaccinated, you are encouraged to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth for your own protection and safety. Coffeehouse fellowship follows the worship service in Luther Hall. The Rev. Nancy L. Moore presides.

The Service of Healing with prayers are said for those to help ease one’s emotional, physical and spiritual burdens to assist and cope with daily living. Prayer shawls are handmade by volunteers and are to be used in times of joy or sorrow and ordinary times as a form of comfort during daily faith practices. The prayer shawls are available at no cost and may serve as a gift to a loved one.

Weekly Sunday Church School for students ages 3 though grade 6 is at 10:45 a.m. Confirmation class for 7th and 8th grade students is at the same time.

The Trinity Thrift Store is open without reservations. Shopping and drop-off hours are Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours, limited to five bags or boxes. The food pantry continues to be open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting and precautionary measures in place. Residents in need who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive prepackaged supplemental food items. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up.

To schedule a baptism or seek membership at Trinity, contact the church office to register in advance for the instruction sessions. Baptismal class will be held on the third Sunday at 1 p.m. Overview for prospective new members is on the fourth Sunday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Moore.

Trinity Lutheran Church was organized Dec. 1, 1872. The cornerstone for the church building was laid June 1, 1873. A series of events are forming to celebrate the milestones. A worship service to mark the anniversary is Dec. 4, at 3 p.m. Northeast Pennsylvania Bishop Christopher deForest will be the preacher. A light supper will follow. You are invited to contribute ideas at the planning meeting Nov. 20 immediately following the annual congregational meeting.
