Tamaqua man charged with sexual assault of minors

Robert L. Christman III, 32, of Tamaqua, is behind bars on charges he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old boy and had indecent contact with a 12-year-old girl over the course of several months in the borough.

Tamaqua police were contacted by the mother of the children on Aug. 11 after The mother turned over Christman’s electronic equipment to Tamaqua police and detectives from the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office.

Tamaqua police and the district attorney’s office charged Christman with four felony counts of indecent sexual assault of a person less than 16 years old; one felony count of aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 16; one felony county of corruption of minors; four misdemeanor counts of indecent assault of a person less than 16; two misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure; one felony count of corruption of minors and one misdemeanor count of indecent assault of a person less than 13.

Christman was arraigned before District Judge Stephen Bayer, Tamaqua, who set bail at $150,000 cash. He was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison.
