Fall events

• The Schuylkill County Historical Society will conduct its Haunted History Tours in Pottsville on Saturdays, Oct. 22 and 29. A tour of Baber Cemetery, 14th and Market streets, will begin at 6 p.m. on Oct. 22 and at 5:45 p.m. on Oct. 29. A tour of downtown Pottsville will start at the society, 305 N. Centre St., at 8 p.m. on all four Saturdays. For reservations, contact the society at 570-622-7540.

• The Rush Township Board of Supervisors is sponsoring a free trunk-or-treat from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Hometown Farmers’ Market parking lot, 125 Mahanoy Ave., Tamaqua.

• Lansford is having its 3rd Annual Halloween Festival at Ashton Park (aka Lansford Pool) on Oct. 29 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. For children from Lansford, Summit Hill, Coaldale, Nesquehoning, Tamaqua, Lehighton and Jim Thorpe. There is no charge to attend and there will be free food for kids 12 years old and under. There will also be trick-or-treat tables.

• Ghost Walks, presented by the Jim Thorpe Rotary Club Friday and Saturday nights, one-mile, round trip, walks start at the Inn at Jim Thorpe, 24 Broadway. Led by a costumed storyteller with lantern, the walks, all outside, last about an hour. Proceeds benefit charities. Although walk-ins are always welcome, space on each walk may be limited, so pre-registration and payment is recommended. Info: www.jimthorperotary.org/

• Chestnuthill’s Halloween Spooktacular Event by Chestnuthill Parks & Recreation, Saturday at 11 a.m. at Chestnuthill Township Park. Come in costume for trunk-or-treating, pumpkin and face painting, balloon animals, horse drawn wagon rides, searching for bones in owl pellets, story time with Western Pocono Community Library, costume contests, and a Halloween themed demonstration from Mad Science Lehigh Valley. Food available.

• Lehigh Valley Zoo’s Boo at the Zoo, Get your costumes on and be prepared for tricks and treats galore on Oct. 22 and 23, and 29 and 30.

Trick-or-treat each day from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at candy & treat stations throughout the Zoo. Music from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 29 and 30. Check out themed crafts and activities plus pumpkin patch and more!

Bags will not be provided to participants, so please remember to bring your trick-or-treat bag.

• Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tamaqua is hosting a free indoor Halloween safe event Sunday at the church at the corner of Mauch Chunk and Greenwood Street. The family event runs from 2 to 4 p.m. Children ages 2 to 10 are welcome and encouraged to come in costume. Activities include pumpkin painting and games and a Halloween movie with popcorn and candy. All are welcome.

• Cornerstone Community Church Harvest Fair, noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 29, at the church, 388 Polk Township Road, Kresgeville. The day includes games, crafts, trunk-or-treat, bake sale, popcorn, cotton candy, food, hot chocolate table, Operation Christmas Child.
