The Carbon County Groundwater Guardians recently received national recognition from the Nebraska-based Groundwater Foundation, which designated the county as a “Groundwater Guardian Community” for the third consecutive year.

It is the second honor the group received this year, following its receipt of the Governor’s Award for Watershed Stewardship.

The organization, headed by Frank Waksmunski, is a non-profit group designed to encourage citizen involvement in the groundwater protection at the local level.
