Letter to the editor: Shukaitis gets her vote

I support Democrat Jennifer Shukaitis for Pennsylvania Senate in the 40th district which includes all of Monroe County. She does not owe any special interests and will put solutions before politics. She is a health care worker, has a master’s degree, is a Stroud Township supervisor and lifelong Pennsylvanian. She works on the bipartisan board of Stroud Township serving 20,000 residents. These are the same responsibilities as a state senator. She serves on the Brodhead Watershed Association and understands the importance in protecting our natural resources. “Conservation Voters of PA” gave her opponent Rosemary Brown a rating of zero.

She is also concerned about our state senate on fair funding for education and alleviating the property tax burden which has gone no where for years. She is ready to protect reproductive rights because females in Pennsylvania will not be told what medical procedures they cannot have, or be forced to have an expensive, unnecessary, medical procedure such as the invasive trans vaginal ultra sound prior to an abortion. Her opponent Rosemary Brown has voted against reproductive health care rights 18 times.

We have to send a bold message to Harrisburg and it starts by changing the people we send there.

The vote this Nov. 8 will determine the direction of our region and our country.
