Ehren Hassler had a hat trick to lead Jim Thorpe’s boys soccer team to a victory on Tuesday.

BOYS SOCCER

Pottsville-Jim Thorpe

Ehren Hassler scored a natural hat trick to help Jim Thorpe cruise to a 9-2 Schuylkill League victory over Pottsville.

With Thorpe leading 3-0 on a pair of Dawson Meckes goals and one from Noah Geiser, Hassler tallied three straight times to double the margin.

The Olympians also received second-half goals from Geiser, Jacob Geiser and Ivan Turceniuk.

Meckes also finished with four assists, while Noah Geiser added two helpers. Other assists came from Turceniuk, Jayden Chambers and Jacob Geiser.

Thorpe evened its overall record to 7-7 and its league mark to 5-5. Pottsville dropped to 3-11.

Blue Mountain-Lehighton

Blue Mountain posted a weather-shortened 4-0 Schuylkill League victory over Lehighton.

The contest was called with 11:08 remaining in the second half due to lightning.

Ryan Mundy delivered a hat trick for the Eagles.

Lehighton dropped to 9-5 overall and 4-5 in the league. Blue Mountain improved to 11-3 and remained undefeated in league play at 9-0.

Bangor-Northern Lehigh

Bangor edged Northern Lehigh, 2-1, in a Colonial League contest.

The Bulldogs received a goal from Bryce LoPinto, while goalie Ethan Kunkle recorded 16 saves.

The loss dropped Northern Lehigh to 2-12-1 overall and 0-10-1 in the league. The Slaters are now 9-7.

VOLLEYBALL

Jim Thorpe-Pottsville

Jim Thorpe dropped its first match of the season as Pottsville posted a 25-19, 25-23, 25-27, 25-13 Schuylkill League victory over the Olympians.

The loss dropped Thorpe to 13-1 overall and 10-1 in the league. The Olympians still hold the top spot in Division 1, although the Tide improved to 9-2 to pull within a game of the leaders. Thorpe has a key contest with Pine Grove (8-2 in the league) on Thursday.

Kelsey Patton had five kills and four blocks, while Brianna Snisky added 10 blocks and two kills. The Olympians also received 22 assists from Maggy Hallihan.

Panther Valley-Williams Valley

Panther Valley swept Williams Valley 25-9, 25-10, and 25-11 in Schuylkill League play.

The Panthers, winners of five straight, upped their record to 12-2 overall and lead Division 3 with a 9-1 mark. PV hosts second-place Marian (8-2) on Thursday in a key league matchup.

Mikayla Uricheck had five kills for Panther Valley, while Emma Dacey contributed four kills, 11 aces and a dig. The winners also received four kills, eight digs and for aces from Riley McArdle, with Morgan Orsulak adding three kills, 16 assists and three aces.

The loss dropped the Vikings to 5-9.

Shenandoah Valley-Marian

Marian swept past Shenandoah Valley by scores of 25-10, 25-11, 25-13 in Schuylkill League action.

Abbey Kluck had 11 kills and six digs for the Fillies, while Jenna Goff finished with nine kills and two digs.

Julia Meiss contributed 25 assists and six digs, and Megan Paisley added seven kills, five digs and a pair of aces.

Marian upped its mark to 11-4 overall and 8-2 in the league. The Fillies travel to Division 3 leader Panther Valley (9-1) for a showdown on Thursday.

Saucon Valley-Northwestern

Jenna Breininger had 14 kills to help Northwestern record a Colonial League sweep of Saucon Valley.

Breininger also chipped in with three aces, while Avrie Zentz finished with eight kills and a pair of aces.

The winners received 28 digs and three aces from Brooke Dwane, and Shannon Green added 28 assists and five digs.

The Tigers improved to 10-4 overall and 5-3 in the league.

Catasauqua-Palmerton

Catasauqua registered a 25-10, 25-22, 25-23 Colonial League sweep of Palmerton.

Jess Heydt led the Blue Bombers with five kills, while Alysa Roe contributed eight assists.

Claire Thomas and Sadie Gair both chipped in with four digs for Palmerton, who fell to 2-11 overall and 0-8 in the league.

Lehighton-Pine Grove

Lehighton dropped a 25-19, 25-14, 25-17 Schuylkill League decision to host Pine Grove.

Lily Kershner had two kills, four blocks and three aces for the Indians, while Haley Ginder chipped in with two kills and a pair of digs.

Lehighton also received eight digs from Lyla Kershner.

The Tribe fell to 5-12 overall and 4-7 in the league. Pine Grove is now 12-3.

North Schuylkill-Tamaqua

North Schuylkill handed Tamaqua a 25-12, 25-14, 25-16 Schuylkill League defeat.

Sarah Coccio finished with four blocks, four aces and a dig for the Blue Raiders, while Kaylee Kuhn contributed four aces, a block and a dig.

The loss dropped Tamaqua to 1-17 overall and 0-10 in the league. The Spartans improved to 7-6.

Mahanoy Area-Weatherly

Mahanoy Area cruised to a 25-11, 25-9, 25-7 Schuylkill League victory over Weatherly.

The Wreckers received three kills, three digs and two blocks from Becca Schell, while Kelly Michaels added three kills and a dig.

Heather Eichhorst finished with six digs, with Christal Kislan contributing two kills and four digs. Abby Paisley also chipped in with five assists and a kill.

Weatherly fell to 4-13 overall and 1-9 in the league. Mahanoy upped its mark to 8-5.
