Palmerton’s Matt Machalik has been named the National Football Foundation Lehigh Valley Chapter Football Player of the Week for his efforts this past Friday against Pine Grove.

Machalik accounted for eight touchdowns, throwing for six and running for two, in the Blue Bombers’ 53-28 victory.

The junior quarterback completed 17-of-25 passes for 347 yards and also ran 11 times for 117 yards. The 347 passing yards and six TDs are both school records.

The NFF-LV Chapter selects a player of the week every week. Other recipients this season include Central Catholic’s Caiden Shaffer, Nazareth’s Sonny Sasso, Palisades’ Steve Lilly, Freedom’s Jalen Fletcher and Whitehall’s Nigel Linton.
