Carbon County Commissioners
The Carbon County Commissioners discussed or acted on the following item during their meeting on Thursday:
• Jim Thorpe resident Edith Lukasevich asked the commissioners if two spots in the upper parking lot could be dedicated to Kemmerer Park visitors. The county said the park association should make a formal request and they would look into the matter, but said that the upper parking lot is heavily used during the week by employees, contractors with county business, members of various boards during meetings and visitors to meetings.
• Opened bids for a five-year food service contract for Area Agency on Aging. Based on 68,000 meals over the five years, the sole bidder, Metz Culinary Management of Dallas, Pennsylvania, submitted a total bid of $2,021,640. The bid was tabled for two weeks so that it could be reviewed.
• Ratified a grant with the Pennsylvania Department of Health to obtain coroner reports for overdose deaths, violent deaths and maternal deaths in Carbon County. There are two $5,000 grants for a total of $10,000.
• Approved a resolution to apply for $50,000 from the Local Share Account funds to be used for the Carbon County Comprehensive and Greenway Plan.
• Approved three fleet financing for vehicles for the animal shelter, parking and parks and recreation departments.
• Approved a change order with Boyle Construction Management Inc. of Allentown for a redesign at the Emergency Operations Training Center. The cost is $30,000 making the new contract total $261,000.

• Resignation: Tod A. Warner of Weatherly, part-time parking/meter attendant, effective Sept. 30.
