State police reported a four-vehicle crash at 6 p.m. on Sept. 22 along Route 309 (Claremont Avenue) at the intersection with Mahanoy Avenue, in Rush Township, Schuylkill County.

Troopers said Roberto Borrero Suarez, 23, of Tamaqua, was southbound driving a Honda CRV while Pamela E. Kalyan, 71, of Coaldale, driving a Volkswagen Jetta, Casimir J. Ditkosky, 26, of Hazleton, driving a Jeep Wrangler, and Fritz A. Kern, 67, of Douglassville, Berks County, driving a Chevrolet Mailbu, were all stopped.

Suarez rear-ended the Jetta pushing it into the Jeep and the Jeep into the rear of the Mailbu, police said.

Kalyan was injured and taken to St. Luke’s Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, for treatment of a suspected minor injury. No one else was injured. Damages were minor to all four vehicles.

Suarez was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed. Hometown Fire Company volunteers assisted at the scene.
