Lehighton’s Light & Power Department plans to observe Public Power Week Sunday through Saturday.

An open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the borough’s Light & Power Department, 675 Bridge St.

Refreshments will be provided.

The borough is one of more than 2,000 public power systems across the country.

Established by the American Public Power Association and its members in 1986, Public Power Week celebrates the importance of public power.
