A Lehighton man entered a guilty plea on Monday in Carbon County court to a drug dealing charge.
Eugene W. Moyer, 46, pleaded to one count of criminal use of a communication facility, a felony 3.
He was arrested on June 3, 2021, by Lehighton police.
According to court papers filed by patrolman Gabe Szozda:
As part of an ongoing investigation into methamphetamine distribution, Szozda learned that Moyer was distributing crystal methamphetamine in the Lehighton area. Police obtained a warrant and searched Moyer’s property in the 200 block of Held Street.
Moyer was taken into custody.
Items seized from the residence included a large amount of suspected methamphetamine; packaging material; digital scale; plastic bag containing small amount of suspected marijuana; a black Apple iPhone; two black Android cellphones and $2,222.
Moyer told police he sells meth to about five people and has been doing it for the past several months.
Chief public defender Paul J. Levy told the court that since his arrest Moyer entered the Salvation Army rehabilitation program and successfully completed a 174 day inpatient program. He also spent 84 days in jail before going to the rehab for a total credit of 258 days.
Serfass sentenced him to time-served (258 days) to one day less 24 months in prison and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation, supply a DNA sample, render 100 hours of community service, zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use, pay court costs of over $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.
