The winners, coached by Walt Ligenza, get on the board in the first quarter on a James 1-yard run. The drive is aided by runs of 19 and 14 yards from Jim Welsh, and a 12-yard pass from Mike Miorelli to Rick Fenstermacher. After Hazleton ties the game, the Tams take the lead for good in the second frame. Following a Bruce Krapf interception, the Raiders march to the go-ahead score - a 3-yard TD run from James. Tamaqua’s defense seals the win with a fourth-and-one stop at the 18 late in the final quarter.
