Schuylkill crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers in Schuylkill County:

• A two-vehicle crash, involving a motorcycle, was reported at 4:31 p.m. on Aug. 28 along Route 61 in Port Clinton.

Troopers said Michael G. Rodgers, 85, of Hamburg, was driving a 2020 Hyundai Elantra southbound and turned left into oncoming traffic which was northbound. Jack J. Tazzetto, 25, of Blakeslee, driving a 2013 Harley-Davidson, was northbound with his bike striking the passenger side door of the Elantra. Upon impact Tazzetto went over the Elantra and landed on the roadway. The bike went on its side and came to final rest in the northbound lanes.

Tazzetto was injured and taken to Geisinger-St. Luke’s Hospital, Orwigsburg. Rodgers was taken to the Reading Hospital. Both vehicles were towed.

Rodgers was cited for the crash.

• A hit and run crash was reported on Sept. 14 at 10:09 a.m. in the parking lot of the Giant Market in the Cressona Mall, North Manheim Township. Edward Balonis, 52, of Pottsville, driving a 2018 Nissan Rogue and another vehicle were being backed out of parking spaces when the other vehicle struck the Rogue causing minor damages. The other driver fled the scene. The hit-and-run vehicle is a gold sedan.

Balonis was not injured and his vehicle was driven from the scene.

• A one-vehicle crash occurred at 2:44 p.m. on Sept. 11 along Route 901 (Gordon Nagle Trail), in North Manheim Township.

Troopers said Amy E. Dunkle, 22, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 2007 Ford Fusion northbound and as she approached the area of SPCA Road, she lost control on a right hand curve with her vehicle striking the guide rail along the berm.

Dunkle was not injured. She was cited for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
