Free breakfast and lunches will now be available to students in the Pleasant Valley School District.
Superintendent James Konrad announced at the school board meeting Thursday night that the change is effective immediately.
“Pleasant Valley School District has been approved by the Community Eligibility Provision to serve free breakfast and free lunch to all students in the Pleasant Valley School District,” he said. “Each student, if they choose, may receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each day for the entire 2022-2023 school year.”
The CEP program is through the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
Students at MCTI should continue to follow the food guidelines there. Konrad said. School board President Sue Kresge explained that MCTI is not eligible to participate in this program.
Konrad thanked Beverly Hendricks, the director of the Food Services at PVSD, and others who were instrumental in getting this approved for the school district. He said that if parents have any questions, they should contact Hendricks at 570-402-1000 extension 8452.
