September 23, 1944 - Summit Hill surprises Lehighton, handing the Indians an 18-0 defeat. The Hillers, coached by Wilbur Derby, open the scoring midway through the first quarter when Bobby Nardini breaks free for a 50-yard touchdown run. The winners use a ground attack for most of the contest, throwing only two passes, and up their advantage to 12-0 in the second frame when Walter Zuber’s hard running leads to Richard DiGiacomo’s 5-yard tally. One of the Hillers’ passes results in the final tally as Zuber tosses a 20-yard TD strike to Raymond Fada in the third period.
