PARRYVILLE COUNCIL NEWS

The Parryville Council met Monday and several items were discussed or acted upon.

• Council discussed the definition of “bed-and-breakfast” in relation to short-term rentals and will bring the matter up with the zoning officer.

• On a walk around the borough on Sept. 9, 18-20 violation notices were issued.

• Code Enforcement will further look into the vacant property at 345 Centre Street to determine if it needs to be condemned.

• A motion passed to charge residents for the electronic recycling event on Dec. 10 because the borough did not receive a grant.

• South Fire Road is open despite a tree falling near the road. Paving and patching has also been done on the road.

• The playground committee’s request for a heavy duty four-person seesaw for $2,408.20 was approved. Plans are to have a grand reopening of the playground in the spring.

• Firehouse events include monthly Sunday breakfast, an adult toy bingo on Oct. 29, a spaghetti dinner on Nov. 12, and a sip and paint on Nov. 17.

• In unfinished business, a motion passed to purchase a 2014 Dodge Ram for $26,500. In new business, a V plow with shoe kit will be bought for $7,744, contingent on the truck purchase.
