Police: Man left dogs, rabbits in home, went out of country

State police at Stroudsburg are investigating an incident of animal cruelty that occurred in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County.

Troopers were dispatched to Sycamore Circle, for a report of three dogs in a residence who were not being cared for. Through a further investigation it was learned that the owner, a 46-year-old man from Albrightsville, who troopers declined to identify, had left the country for about two weeks leaving the dogs and rabbits inside the residence in deplorable living conditions. The incident was reported on Aug. 9.

The investigation into the incident is continuing.
